I love Lillie

After hearing Irene Harris speak at the Red Cedar Awards, I had to read Flower. So I wrangled myself an autographed copy and spent most of last night reading it cover to cover.

It’s incredibly good, and I’m in awe of the author’s ability to weave together the stories of modern-day Katie and turn-of-the-twentieth-century Lillie. Not to mention the references to The Secret Garden.

If I were thirteen and reading this book, I would be climbing into the attic to check for antique trunks, dreaming of orphaned dream-friends, and heading to the library to check out more books by Ms. Watts.

In fact, I might do all of those things anyways…
