I read. I see the occasional play. I listen to CBC. Most of the time, I believe those are the ingredients of the perfect life.
But the other night Min read a poem (this poem) and expounded on its layers of meaning. Then he turned on Recipe to Riches, and pointed out that they’ve borrowed their theme song from the video game Metal Gear Solid.
And this made me think… it’s possible I have a rather narrow focus when it comes to media.
On his beside table, Min has headphones, a wireless speaker, and a video game hint book. On my bedside table, there are books. I wonder what will appear on the beside tables of our kids in another ten years. Will it continue to be library books, or will they have a cross-platform collection? And which will better prepare them for the world?
