Who knew jeans were so educational?

The Annick LIVEbrary site now boasts a sparkling new lesson plan for The Blue Jean Book.

It includes an excerpt from the “social consciousness” section of the book and suggests that teens work in teams to represent environmental groups, labour unions, child welfare workers, and consumer groups. They examine where jeans are produced, why, and at what cost.

Don’t read the plan unless you’re emotionally prepared, though. You may never look at your ecologically disastrous, sweatshop-produced jeans in the same guilt-free way again.
