February foliage

Goodbye, local fruits. My frozen blueberries are gone, the fruit crisps are eaten, the Okanagan peaches defrosted and decimated. I can’t face one more rhubarb muffin, and I’d rather go to the doctor than eat another grainy gala. Today, I went to the grocery store and bought raisins, mangoes, tangerines, and a honeydew melon from God knows where.

On the bright side, at least we ate local fruit at least partially until February. We’re not entirely sick of roasted root vegetables yet. And I’m sure something (something? anything?) is bound to sprout soon.

Plus, I’ve ordered seeds for spring! If all goes as planned (which it never does), we’re going to grow greens, strawberries, and herbs in the backyard, and blueberries, eggplant, and cucumbers in the front.
