Scribble subpoena

My husband works on legal cases, and he mentioned this week that a lawyer had requested his clinical records.

T: What does that mean?

M: I have to send them my notes from the day.

T: You have to keep and file all your notes? And then send them out?

That got me thinking about what would happen if someone requested my daily notes. Here’s what the most recent spread in my notebook contains: notes on filtering narration through a character’s viewpoint; ways that the end of a scene can be used for powerful change; the words “web-based forum” (not sure what that was about); a list of books that I’d like to get from the library; and a small drawing of a tree.

Take that to court.
