This week’s Tuesday Tell-All challenge is to complete an opening sentence: “I had just slammed the door, when…”

Here are my two wildly different attempts:

I had just slammed the door when it bounced back toward me, the latch dangling mockingly. Inside, the big cat prepared to spring.

I had just slammed the door when the curfew bell rang. I ran to pull the blinds.
