I made two big cherry crisps this week, one to eat and one to freeze for the dark days of November when there’s no fresh fruit in sight.
I write this partly to impress my friend Karen. Her husband gave up his something-impressive-and-cellular-related job this year and the family opted out of the rat race. They sold their Kitsilano home and bought a house in Metchosin, with the goal of eventually becoming organic farmers.
Karen’s a wonderful writer (as well as an amazing cook), and has decided to blog her back-to-the-land journey. You can live the life vicariously at City Girl Goes Farming.
Personally, I’m quite happy that I don’t have to wake up at 5:15 a.m., see rodents in my garden, and worry that hawks are going to make off with my baby. But still, I wish her all the best!
