Our movie producer neighbors got married this weekend and I went to their backyard reception with great trepidation, worried it would be full of snotty and pretentious movie types.

Happily, I spotted one of the least snotty and pretentious people I’ve ever met — children’s author and screenwriter David Jones. He’s the author of Mighty Robots, Baboon, and, most recently:

David claims he intended Monks in Space only as a tongue-in-cheek working title, and worries that people will buy it expecting humor, and then be disappointed. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed by David’s writing, so I’m going to have to trek off to Kidsbooks again (can someone send me a lock for my wallet?) and see for myself!
